I didn't feel a thing

Let's deal with this earthquake thing first. Yes, we had an earthquake off the coast of Vancouver Island today but no I didn't feel it. Neither did Alan and neither did the any of the kids or any of the teachers since they didn't know about it until I told them at the end of the day. In fact, I haven't spoken to anyone around here that felt anything. I'm thinking people in Kelowna who say they felt it have very vivid imaginations.

Anyway, we seem to have survived the first week of school. The boys get put into their classes and find out who their teachers on Monday, sooner than last year. It will be interesting to see how it shakes out. Lin had a good week. I have spoken to the vice principal, the counsellor and the music teacher. All have been super understanding and accommodating. Alan even spoke to her English teacher at karate. I am really hoping this is going to be a good year for her. Lin has even told me that she is going to pay attention in class and work hard so I am very hopeful that we are finally headed in the right direction.

I had an interesting meeting at lunch today. I met a fellow accountant who is involved in a few different exploration companies. I am going to start doing some part time work for him to earn a few extra bob here and there. It doesn't sound like it will be more than a couple days of work per month so I should be able to handle it. It will be interesting to get back into oil and gas and related industries. We will see what comes out of it in the long run.
