Remembering and resting

So today everyone is remembering where they were 10 years ago today. I remember Alan waking me up as he was leaving for work and telling me that two planes had hit the WTC. I thought, he must have that wrong and I got up to go and turn on the TV. Ian was about two weeks old at the time and I wasn't getting a very good nights sleep at that point so I was still trying to wake up and understand things. I think we spent the entire day sitting on the couch watching TV, well Ian eating and me watching TV. I think that was just about all we did most days then come to think of it. Anyway, today I spent some time watching some memorial stuff, mostly about the people and their stories.

It appears that today is probably the last of the very hot weather we have been having. I may be upset with myself for not taking advantage of the sunshine today but I just didn't feel up to it. I'm still fighting this cold and I had a bit of a nap in the middle of the day today which seems to have helped a bit. I am hoping by tomorrow I am ready to face the day with a bit more energy. We ended skipping out on two events today which I would normally have wanted to attend but didn't. Alan was continuing work on our downstairs door renovation project as well. The kids maybe didn't have such an exciting day but tomorrow school should get under way for them so a day of laying low won't hurt.
